The first written record of a decorated Christmas tree was in Latvia’s capital in 1510, so what better way to get into the festive season than with a 3-night Riga city break to explore its Christmas markets! We’ll see the highlights of Riga on a guided tour, where we’ll discover the city’s old town, medieval walls, see some of its renowned art nouveau architecture and visit the Art Nouveau Museum. There will also be plenty of free time to discover Riga at a leisurely pace or visit its Christmas markets, with tips on what to see and do from our local guide. On arrival in Riga, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. You will have the evening to relax and explore the surroundings of your hotel.
After breakfast, join us for a guided tour to view the highlights of this charming city. We will visit the old town and see the remains of the old city walls, with entrance into the Dome Church included. Next, we will visit the House of Blackheads, Powder Tower & St. Peter's Church as well as taking in panoramic views of Riga canal, Daugava River and the city skyline. Finally, we will explore the Art Nouveau quarter at the Alberta Street on foot with a visit to the Art Nouveau Museum included.

Take your time today and enjoy the historic centre of Riga at your own pace. You have the full day to spend shopping at the Christmas markets in Cathedral Square where you can relax with a hot chocolate or taste some traditional local food.
After a morning at leisure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home, with guide assistance.
You will be met on arrival at your destination airport and transferred to your accommodation. You will be accompanied on all included excursions by your Travel Department guide. Your expert local guide is also available to give you tips and advice on any aspect of your holiday.
