Lake Como Christmas Markets & The Bernina Express

Upon landing in Italy, we will be met by our local representative in the arrivals area of the airport, who will escort us to our hotel in the charming town of Como. During the transfer, our guide will introduce us to the region, offer suggestions for activities and attractions, and answer any questions we may have.

This morning, we set out on a guided walking tour of Como, exploring its elegant squares and historic landmarks. Highlights include Piazza Duomo, home to the magnificent cathedral showcasing a blend of architectural styles, and Piazza San Fedele, renowned for its beautiful Romanesque church.

The remainder of the day is free to enjoy Como’s enchanting Christmas markets, beautifully set along the lakeside. Soak up the festive atmosphere while sampling regional treats such as bombolini — delicious sugar-coated Italian doughnuts — or a warming glass of vin brulé, Italy’s traditional mulled wine. 

As evening falls, the town transforms into a magical winter wonderland, with spectacular illuminations lighting up the streets and historic buildings to create a breathtaking nighttime display.

Today, we will have a full day to relax and enjoy the charms & festive atmosphere of Lake Como. Our local guide will be happy to suggest activities to suit your interests and advise which highlights are a must-see.

After breakfast, we set off with our guide on a memorable journey into the breathtaking Swiss Alps. Following a short stop in the charming alpine town of Tirano, we cross into Switzerland to board the Bernina Express in Poschiavo. Relax and take in the magnificent alpine scenery, from snow-covered peaks to dramatic glacier landscapes, as the train winds through one of Europe’s most scenic rail routes. 

Our journey continues to Diavolezza, where we rejoin our coach and travel to the stylish resort town of St. Moritz. Here, you’ll have free time to explore at your leisure and perhaps pick up some delicious Swiss chocolate to bring home. 

We return to our hotel via the picturesque Maloja Pass, travelling through beautiful farmland and quaint villages along the way.

Time to say 'arrivederci' to Lake Como! 

We'll check out of our hotel and depart by coach to the airport for our return flight.
