    Your Guided Garden Tour of Wiltshire

    On this garden tour we’ll explore Wiltshire and the surrounding West Country, visiting a wonderful mix of gardens, historic estates and scenic landscapes. Highlights include Bowood House & Gardens, set within the celebrated 18th-century parkland designed by Capability Brown, one of England’s most influential landscape designers, and the romantic Italianate gardens of Iford Manor. We’ll also visit the tranquil Bishop’s Palace Gardens in Wells, set alongside the magnificent Wells Cathedral, as well as other beautifully designed gardens throughout the region. With time to explore the historic city of Bath, this tour offers a chance to enjoy the gardens, history and charm of this picturesque part of England.

    Lady Farm Gardens & The Old Vicarage Garden

    Lady Farm Gardens

    This morning, we meet our guide, Peter Harrison, at Dublin Airport for our flight to Bristol.  On arrival, we travel to the renowned Lady Farm Gardens, celebrated for its spectacular prairie and steppe-style planting. Wander through vibrant borders, the hosta walk, charming cottage garden and colourful wildflower meadow, all showcasing an impressive range of seasonal colour. Following our guided visit, we enjoy a light lunch before continuing our journey.

    The Old Vicarage Gardens

    This afternoon, we visit the enchanting Old Vicarage Garden in Bradford-on-Avon. This beautifully designed garden combines formal elegance with naturalistic planting and features an Italianate garden, productive fruit and vegetable plots, a wildflower meadow and a delightful treehouse nestled amongst sweeping prairie borders.

    Following our visit we travel to our nearby hotel where we’ll gather for our evening meal together.

    After a leisurely breakfast, we set off to visit the beautiful walled gardens of Seend Manor. Divided into four distinctive quadrants, each reflects an important chapter in the owners' lives, drawing inspiration from England, China, Africa and Italy to create a unique and captivating garden experience.
     

    Great Chalfield Manor & Garden

    This afternoon, we explore the picturesque medieval manor of Great Chalfield. Nestled in the peaceful Wiltshire countryside, the house has remained remarkably unchanged since the 1470s. Its seven acres of Arts & Crafts-inspired gardens perfectly complement the historic manor and feature sculpted topiary, an elegant rose garden and a tranquil spring-fed pond.

    Our final visit today is to the delightful Courts Garden, renowned for its serene water gardens, colourful herbaceous borders and impressive arboretum. Afterwards, we return to our hotel for the evening.

    In the afternoon, we visit the magnificent Bowood House & Gardens, set within the sweeping parkland designed by the celebrated landscape architect Capability Brown. Garden highlights include the beautifully restored Walled Garden, the elegant Terrace Garden and an exceptional arboretum featuring an outstanding collection of rare and champion trees.

    After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and travel to the magnificent Iford Manor Estate. Its Grade I listed gardens are renowned for their romantic design, blending classical architecture with natural beauty and offering breathtaking views across the surrounding valley. This inspiring garden is considered one of the finest examples of an Italianate garden in Britain.

    Wells Cathedral & Bishop’s Palace Gardens

    This afternoon, we visit the beautiful Bishop's Palace Gardens in Wells. These twelve acres of tranquil and varied gardens are enclosed by medieval walls and surrounded by the moated precincts of the adjacent 800-year-old cathedral. You will have free time to explore both the gardens and the magnificent Wells Cathedral before we continue to Bristol Airport for our early evening flight back to Dublin.
