Based in the picturesque town of Fiuggi, 60km southeast of Rome, we’ll be ideally placed to visit some of the most iconic sites in central Italy. On guided tours of the 'Eternal City', we’ll take in famous landmarks like the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. You’ll also have free time to explore Rome on your own, and your expert guide will provide tips on what to do depending on your interests. Another excursion takes us to Umbria, whose green valleys and mountains form a pristine backdrop to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, is one of the world's most cherished places of pilgrimage.

Ancient Rome
Guided Walking Tour of Ancient Rome
Let’s join our guide this morning and travel by coach to Ancient Rome. Today, will explore the city on a guide walking tour while taking in the sights of the Colosseum and Roman Forum (both viewed from outside), as well as discovering Piazza Venezia and the Trevi Fountain. We will have free time for lunch, shopping and sightseeing before returning to Fiuggi in the late afternoon.
Certosa di Trisulti
Certosa di Trisulti
We set out with our guide on a half-day excursion to the Certosa di Trisulti, the Trisulti Charterhouse, founded in 1204 by Pope Innocent III. Within this remarkable complex, we will visit the Church of St. Bartholomew, home to treasured artworks, and step into the former monastery pharmacy, a fascinating space dating back to the 18th century. Before returning to our hotel, we’ll pause at Sarandrea, an historic liquor and herbalist shop.
Afternoon At Leisure
Enjoy an afternoon at leisure in Fiuggi. Stroll through its pleasant streets, adorned with Liberty style facades and tree-lined parks, and check out the many small shops, cafes and restaurants. In the hilltop old town, enter via the original Portella and wander the cobbled streets, dotted with tiny churches and fountains. Sturdy shoes are recommended here! Take a coffee and a breather, and admire magnificent views over the Lazio countryside.
Tivoli & Villa d'Este
Full Day Guided Excursion to Tivoli
Following breakfast join us for an excursion to Tivoli where we will visit Villa d’Este. The villa, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a symbol of the Italian Renaissance famous for its gardens and splendid fountains. Lunch is included today at a typical Italian restaurant. There will be free time for independent sightseeing before returning to our hotel for our evening meal.

We will have a full day to relax and take it easy. Our guide will be happy to offer suggestions for activities and places to see in Fiuggi and the surrounding area.
Optional Full Day Excursion to Castel Gandolfo & the Papal Palace
Today’s full day excursion will include a visit to Castel Gandolfo, Gandolfo, known as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy! In a splendid position overlooking Lake Albano, Castle Gandolfo is situated on the brink of a volcanic crater. Our guide will take us on a visit to the famous Papal Palace, where Popes have spent their summers since the 17th century.

Assisi
Full Day Guided Excursion to Assisi
After an early breakfast at our hotel we set off for a full day guided excursion to the historic city of Assisi, famous as the birthplace of St. Francis. Our visit will include a guided walking tour with wine tasting included at a local cellar followed by free time for lunch, shopping and sightseeing. We will return to our hotel in Fiuggi in in the late evening for dinner.

A further opportunity to relax and enjoy the lovely town of Fiuggi! You may wish to indulge in one of the thermal spa treatments for which Fiuggi is renowned. If you would like to return to Rome for further sightseeing, please consult your guide, who can advise on public transport options.
