Located on the Gulf of Riga in the Baltic Sea, Riga is Latvia’s capital and the largest city of the Baltic States. Due to its location, the city served as a major port and influences from German, Swedish and Russian traders can still be seen in Riga’s diverse culture today. On this holiday to Riga, we’ll explore the city’s old town, medieval walls and impressive collection of buildings from the 16th-18th century. The city is famous for its stunning art nouveau architecture and we’ll have a chance to see some during our guided walking tour and visit to the Art Nouveau Museum. This holiday also includes plenty of free time to discover Riga at a leisurely pace, with tips on what to see and do from our local guide.

On arrival in Riga, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel. You will have the evening to relax and explore the surroundings of your hotel.

City Tour of Riga
MorningAfter breakfast, your local guide will take you on a tour to view the highlights of this charming city. You will visit the old town and see the remains of the old city walls, with entrance into the Dome Church included. Next you will visit the House of Blackheads, Powder Tower & St. Peter's Church as well as taking in panoramic views of Riga canal, Daugava River and the city skyline. Finally you will explore the Art Nouveau quarter at the Alberta Street on foot with a visit to the Art Nouveau Museum included.

Free Time in Riga
Full DayYou can spend today shopping and sightseeing at your own pace. We would recommend visiting the Central Market where over 1200 vendors peddle their wares daily or visiting on of the many galleries or museums throughout the city. Simply walking around the city and stopping in one of the many cafes or bars is a lovely way to spend the day.

Depart Riga
After a morning at leisure, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home, with guide assistance.
