    Your Guided Group Holiday to the Dolomites

    Join us on this incredible holiday to Italy to uncover historic sights, breathtaking scenery and idyllic villages of the Dolomites, one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in Europe. On a visit to Bolzano, known as the gateway to the Dolomites, we’ll see how Italian and German influences seamlessly blend throughout the city. The Renon Railway will take us to the beautiful mountain town of Collalbo and after experiencing the scenic views from the Mendola Funicular, one of the steepest funiculars in Europe, we’ll enjoy some wine tasting. With a panoramic train journey from Mezzolombardo to Caldes, a boat trip around Lake Garda and a tour of Trento, there is so much we’ll see in this incredible part of Italy. 

    Please Note  Guests should have a good level of mobility in order to embark/disembark from the trains, cable cars and funiculars included on this holiday.

    Transfer to Lake Molveno

    Our Italian adventure begins as we travel to the beautiful lakeside resort of Lake Molveno, set beneath the dramatic peaks of the Brenta Dolomites.

    On arrival, we are welcomed by our local representative and transferred to our hotel, where we'll spend the next seven nights.

    Discover Bolzano and the Renon Railway

    Renon Railway and Collalbo

    Time: MorningMorning

    After breakfast, we join our guide for a full-day excursion through the heart of South Tyrol.

    • Our day begins with a cable car ride to the hilltop village of Soprabolzano (approx. 12 mins)
    • We then board the historic Renon Railway for a scenic journey to Collalbo (approx. 15 mins). As the narrow-gauge railway climbs to over 1,200 metres, we'll enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Dolomite peaks.
    • During our visit, we'll stop to admire the remarkable Earth Pyramids, these are one of South Tyrol's most distinctive natural landmarks
    • Then, we’ll enjoy some free time for lunch

    Later, we continue to Bolzano, often considered the gateway to the Dolomites. Our guided walking tour introduces us to the city's:

    • Vibrant atmosphere

    After, you have free time to explore at your own pace.

    Mendola Funicular and Wine Tasting

    Guided Excursion

    Time: Full DayFull Day

    Today's excursion combines local flavours with spectacular mountain scenery.

    • We begin with a visit to a local winery, where we'll sample a selection of regional wines
    • Then, we’ll travel to the foothills of the Mendola Mountain Range
    • From here, we board the historic Mendola Funicular for a spectacular ascent to Passo della Mendola (approx. 12 mins each way). As we climb to 1,363 metres, we’ll enjoy sweeping views across forests, valleys and the surrounding mountain landscapes.
    • Following free time for lunch, we descend to the picturesque village of San Antonio di Caldaro before returning to our hotel

    Explore Trentino

    Time: Full DayFull Day

    Today we discover more of Trentino's history and scenery.

    • Travelling by coach to Mezzolombardo, we board the Castles Railway for a scenic journey through mountain valleys to Caldes (approx. 90 mins).
    • On arrival, we visit the impressive Caldes Castle, a beautifully preserved 13th-century fortress overlooking the Noce River
    • After some free time, we continue to Cles, where we explore the historic Assessorile Palace, admired for its elegant architecture and impressive medieval frescoes

    Discover Lake Garda

    Guided Excursion

    Time: Full DayFull Day

    Today we visit the beautiful shores of Lake Garda.

    • Our excursion begins with a guided walking tour of Riva del Garda 
    • Next, we board a relaxing boat cruise across the lake
    • Arriving in the charming village of Limone, we'll have free time to enjoy lunch
    • You may wish to wander the colourful streets or simply relax and admire the lakeside scenery before returning to our hotel later in the afternoon

    Guided Walking Tour

    Time: MorningMorning

    This morning we travel to the historic city of Trento. Our guided walking tour provides a fascinating insight into the region's past.

    • Venture through its colourful streets 
    • Visit the impressive Buonconsiglio Castle, with origins dating back to Roman times, and admire its magnificent frescoes, historic architecture and spectacular mountain views.
    • We'll return to our hotel in the late afternoon, with time to relax before our evening meal

    Our final full day is free to enjoy at your own pace.

    • Take time to relax beside the lake
    • Browse the local shops for souvenirs 
    • Enjoy a coffee, gelato or glass of wine while taking in the beautiful surroundings

    Depart Italy

    Return Home

    Today we say arrivederci to Italy.

    After checking out of our hotel, we transfer to the airport with our guide for our return flight home, bringing our Little Trains of the Dolomites holiday to a close.
