Your Guided Group Holiday To Somerset

Travel with us to discover the beautiful gardens of Somerset on this 3-night garden holiday in England. One of the highlights of this tour is a visit to The Newt, an ambitious project where £50,000,000 has been spent on a hotel and spa but also the surrounding gardens. Originally, the gardens were shaped over 200 years by successive enthusiasts, including Margaret Hobhouse who introduced colour, a greenhouse and many trees of beech, oak, pine, walnut and cedar. Renowned garden designer Penelope Hobhouse gave Margaret’s vision a new lease of life in the 1970s, followed by Nori and Sandra Pope, whose experiments with colour delighted and inspired thousands of visitors in the mid-1980s. The latest incarnation has mixed ornamental and productive elements. At their core sits the Parabola, a walled garden concealing an apple tree maze; at their edges, diverse woodland providing a sheltered habitat for native wildlife and a wonderful walled garden. We'll be based in the county town of Taunton and explore other gardens, such as East Lambrook Manor Garden, Bishop’s Palace Garden and more. On these guided garden tours will take us through the rich and varied agricultural county of Somerset.
