To welcome in the milder months, we decided to change the mode of transport for the Lake Tour that’s included in our holidays to Lake Garda.
Boat not Coach
Since Easter, groups of Travel Department customers have been enjoying the excursion by boat instead of by coach, and we’re delighted to say that the feedback we’ve received so far is great!
Together with our team in Riva del Garda, we put a lot of time and consideration into ensuring that our guests get the most from the excursion. We wanted to create a day full of lake highlights that’s taken at a leisurely place – you are on holidays after all!
So if you’re planning a trip to Lake Garda this year, this is an idea of what to expect from your day trip around Italy’s most popular lake.
Walking Tour of Riva del Garda
After breakfast, usually around 9am, depart from your hotel. Depending on where you are staying you will have a short coach transfer or walk to your meeting point in Riva del Garda.
Begin the day with a leisurely walking tour of Riva del Garda with your local guide. Riva has been welcoming Travel Department customers for 20 years and many people love it so much they return there every year!
Private Boat Tour
Once the walking tour is finished you board the boat. The boat is privately hired by Travel Department and it’s very spacious. There’s lots of space to sit outside on the top deck or downstairs inside, depending on your preference.
First stop is the town of Limone. Once a small fishing village and only accessible by boat, today Limone is a popular tourist town famous for its lemons and the incredible longevity of its population – over a dozen inhabitants are over 100 years old! You will have some time to look around the town and drink in the stunning views.
Then travel on to Malcesine on the eastern shore of the Lake. Your guide will give you an introduction to the town and then you can spend the afternoon exploring at your own pace. The most prominent landmark is Malcesine is the impressive Castello Scaligero which you can visit.
The leisurely journey back to Riva is later that afternoon. Guests who wish to spend longer in Malcesine of their own accord can do so and our guides will assist them in making their own arrangements to travel back on public boat/bus.
We have departures to Lake Garda throughout the year. If you have any questions or would like to book please call us on (01) 637 1600.
