Staff Travel

It goes without saying that you have to be passionate about travel to work with us.

When we’re not creating fantastic getaways for other people, we’re on a plane, train, boat or on foot exploring the world.

Among the team we've travelled to almost every corner of the globe and we use our knowledge and experience to create fantastic experiences for our customers.

Travel Department staff members regularly travel to our destinations, to make sure that our high standards are being maintained, and also just to have some fun. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!

Caroline Gallagher - Sales & Customer Service Agent

I am very grateful that my job here gives me the opportunity to visit these awesome destinations. It has undoubtedly improved my knowledge of the world and enables me to assist in booking the right holiday for our customers.

Over the past 10 years, I've been a member of Travel Department team and my role as a Sales & Customer Service Agent Executive involves visiting some of the world’s most beautiful places. During my time here, I have been extremely fortunate to travel to some of our most exciting destinations such as Lake Garda, Lake Como, Tuscany, Rome, Sorrento, Puglia, Sicily, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Copenhagen, Iceland, Madrid, Toledo, Barcelona, Andalucía, Malaga, Zermatt, St Moritz, Moscow & St Petersburg, Istanbul and most recently I embarked on incredible trip to South Africa!

Danielle Farrell - Specialist Product Manager TDactive Holidays

From a young age, I have always had an extreme passion for travelling and seeing the world! At 21, I embarked on a solo adventure to Tanzania to do volunteer work which kick-started my love of immersing myself in different cultures. At 24, I left Ireland on a one-way ticket to Australia, which I called my home for 5 months. The more I travel, the more of the world I want to see!

When I returned from Australia in 2014, I began working with Travel Department and I have been lucky enough to visit Barcelona and Lake Garda on the continent, as well as enjoying trips further afield to Morocco, Russia, China, India and Vietnam. For me, India was a personal favourite. The sights, sounds and smells of India are something that need to be experienced to be believed. Plus, some of the tastiest food I have ever eaten was during my trip around India’s famous tourist route, the Golden Triangle.

As well as travelling extensively with Travel Department, I also take as much time as possible to do my own exploring. In addition to my trips to Tanzania and Australia, I have cruised around both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, visited New York, New Jersey and Florida in the US, experienced many of Europe’s main cities and sun resorts and most recently explored one of my favourite destinations yet - Iceland.

Working as part of the Product Team lets me combine my work with my love of travel. When I am not planning itineraries for Travel Department’s specialist brand, TDactive Holidays, I am most likely looking up details for my next adventure.

Gina Hingerty - Customer Service Executive

I have worked in travel for all of my adult life. In my 8 years with Travel Department I have had roles in several areas, including organising and attending travel events, copywriting, liaising with overseas suppliers, and customer relations.I’m also lucky enough to be tasked with checking out new destinations and hotels from time to time. It’s great to have the chance to travel, and from a professional point of view, to witness ‘the customer experience’ at regular holiday locations.

In 2015 I visited Iceland, Italy (Lake Garda), and Croatia.  Iceland was unique and fascinating - everyone should go there at least once.  In Croatia I was introduced to a lovely new destination, Sibenik. My favourite country is Italy, where I worked many years ago in Tuscany and on the Amalfi Coast.   Italy is like several amazing countries in one, and you can never be tired of it. In my leisure time I enjoy cooking and baking (as well as more travel)!  With regular charity ‘bake offs’ as well as other staff get-togethers, there’s always a chance to take some home-made treats in to the office, and keep your colleagues sweet!
